Lily of the Valley in Magic

Lily of the Valley in Magic
Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) sometimes is called Fairy Cups, because the flowers resemble cups the fairies may have hung so that they could dance.
The flowers are said to ring when fairies sing. They are believed to form ladders that fairies use to reach reeds from which they weave cradles.
Plant Lily of the Valley to attract the Folk to your magical garden. Plant it also to protect your home from unwanted ghosts and evil spirits.
The fragrance of Lily of the Valley is believed to attract nightingales, and to give us the power to see a better world. Perhaps this is why, in the language of flowers, Lily-of-the-Valley symbolizes the return of happiness. Further, they represent sweetness, humility and purity.
Infuse a bit of almond oil with Lily of the Valley (soak the flowers in the oil). Use this oil to anoint candles, and burn the candles to aid in divination or ceremonial magic.
In herbalism, Lily of the Valley has been used in decoctions and applied to the head to relieve illnesses of the brain, including melancholia and stroke. The plant is toxic, so do your research, consult a knowledgable herbalist and use care if you decide to use it in herbalism.
