The Fur’s Going to Fly! Victor Puts Pets on Jets

September 3, 2012 | By Sara

No longer will haughty hounds have to suffer the discomfort and downright embarrassment of traveling as freight. Victor, the private jet-share marketplace have launched their ‘Furs Class’ service (oh yes, how I love that name) so your canine can travel right alongside you in style.
Private Jet? But I’m not a gazzilionaire, you say!? Yes, private jet. “Victor has opened up private jet travel to people who never would have considered it before,” says Clive Jackson, Founder and CEO of Victor. Previously just the domain of the uber rich,Victor now enables travellers to buy single seats on private charters for a fraction more than a business class ticket on a commercial airline. “By cutting out the middle men, Victor offers a totally transparent and risk free approach to private jet travel with the added bonus of purchasing the seat next to you for your pet,” says Clive. Now that’s something to woof about.

OK, we’re not talking EasyJet prices (which, in my opinion are still too high to withstand people in bright orange shouting in your face), but this aint Easyjet service either. For one, Easyjet and Ryanair won’t transport pets. “To put your dog in the hold on a London to Palma de Mallorca flight with Monarch costs about £750. For the same price, with Victor your dog can travel in the cabin with you,” says Clive. Likewise for humans the cost of a single seat to destinations like Mallorca range from around £750 – £1,000 with Victor.
Sure, having your pet with you in the cabin would be super awesome, if only to see them donning an eye mask and some travel socks, but it doesn’t end there.  ”Check in time takes around 15 minutes, so in most cases you’re at your destination before your would have even taken off on a commercial airline,” says Clive. Passengers and their pets can jump straight out of their car, onto the plane and into their seat. Clive also assures me that treats are available for those pooches that have a hankering for a mid-air snack.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Another whisky please? WOOF!
The idea for ‘Furs Class’ came when Clive and the team at Victor noticed that more and more of their customers were pet owners with second homes abroad. Their only options were to leave their dog in a kennel here in the UK or put them in the hold as cargo. “Their dogs are part of the family and they really don’t want to put them through the stress of travelling in the hold,” says Clive.
Mr Layton switched to Victor after a stressful situation travelling with his chocolate Labrador Mr Boots. “Last time we flew commercial we could see Mr Boots in the cage on the tarmac in Palma where it was 38 degrees. They left him out there for an hour and we couldn’t do anything about it. He was exhausted and dehydrated when we finally got him back,” he says. “Victor found us seats on a flight from Palma to London, where Mr Boots sat on a seat next to me and spent most of the flight looking out of the window,” he says.

When pets return to the UK, relaxed, tanned and glossier than ever, their re-entry is as easy breezy as you would expect, explains Clive. “Once you touch down, the lady from Sky Pet will come on board to check your dogs micro-chip and passport. Most of our regular dogs are happy to see her because she usually has a treat for them. You’re then free to walk straight off the plane with your dog.”
Not bad…….not bad at all!
It’s free to join Victor and for those who are up for some sun with their pooch, Victor have seats going down to Palma de Mallorca on the 10th September for £950…WOOF!
