Marriage. {A Poem} ~ Edith Lazenby

A chill greets me

With winds talking

And leaves yawning

From limb to

Earth, as the day wakes

With a tickle and

A jolt, knowing this

Moment cannot promise

To hold tomorrow

Because life depends

On simple things,

Baked apples, walks in the neighborhood,

A night with a movie,

Letting a loveseat cradle

Hearts as finger tips trace the years,

Trying to find the woman

I am in how you see

Fine as a bud on a leaf,

What blooms or withers,

What feeds earth

And courts sunshine, cloud cover;

All meaning drifts

From above, cleansing as rain, angry

As thunder, dangerous as lightening,

Life baptizes our vow

Made breath

By breath, for better and worse, till

Death do us part.
