A belated happy birthday to Terry Pratchett (1948-2015), English humourist, satirist, and author of fantasy novels, especially comical works. He sold his first story at 13, earning enough money to buy a second, slightly better typewriter on which he eventually pecked out the first of his 41 "Discworld" novels.
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it."
"Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry."
"It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life."
"Stories of imagination tend to upset those without one."
