SNOOP DOGG PUTS MONEY FORWARD TO END SHELTER EUTHANASIA
In what is being praised across social media networks, American rapper Snoop Dogg is reportedly investing in animal shelters in an effort to end euthanasia practices across the country. It comes as he continues to show an interest in the better treatment and care for dogs and other animals who call shelters home.
The rapper, who has recently switched names to Snoop Lion after a trip to Jamaica, is partnering with Dog for Dog, an organization that donates one bag of dog food for every bag sold.
According to Snoop Dogg, a lack of dog food in shelters is an even bigger issue than lack of space and many animals are euthanized “because there’s not enough food to feed them. So we [Dog for Dog] figured we can say ‘Buy some dog food for your dog, and we’ll drop [an additional bag] off at a local shelter.’ You save a dog’s life.”
In partnering with Dog for Dog, he is also joining fellow celebrity supporter Chelsea Handler, who hosts “Chelsea Lately” and company founder/Relatively Media CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh.
The rapper is a long-time dog lover and will be feeding all eleven of his canines with food from the Dog for Dog brand. Founder Kavanaugh is very excited to have the support of Snoop Dogg and believes his involvement will do great things to spread Dog for Dog’s mission.
Unlike most other pet food brands, Dog for Dog does not spend any money marketing its products and relies wholly on word-of-mouth and supporters like Snoop and Handler.
Kavanaugh said “a company like Iams spends $1.5 billion a year on marketing. We don’t market. Instead, we put that money towards the bags going to the pounds. The goal is ending euthanasia in pounds.”
