Photos from Mark Williams's post in Ancient and Sacred Trees of Britain


The Pontfadog Oak in the Ceiriog valley circa 1910 with its 52ft. girth was probably the largest of its kind in the country. 10 ft of the tree fell away on to the farmhouse next to it in the 60s. Dendrochronologists dated the tree to around 1700 years old before It finally fell in 2013.
