30 Of The Funniest Dog Thoughts That Dog Owners Understand Too Well

Don’t tell me you've never thought what your little pooch is thinkin’ while staring at a tiny dot on the carpet for way longer than acceptable. Or where his thoughts are wandering while sitting on your lap after a long and super busy day spent napping here and there. Well, for what’s been a mystery for so long, we may well now have the answers.

Thanks to the smashingly popular Twitter page “Thoughts of Dog,” which posts a funny bit of the doggo mind almost daily, we now have quite a bit of material that sheds light on what our four-legged companions could be thinking. And usually, it’s not even that deep.

From remembering a really nice stick found at a park to reflecting on a water bowl which, for unexplainable reasons, gets filled every time they drink it, get ready to step into the paws of dogs and see which ways they take you. More funny, philosophical, or totally random dog thoughts wait in our previous posts here, here, and here.

Thoughts of Dog is brought to us by Matt Nelson, the same guy who created the famous We Rate Dogs project. Nelson became a social media sensation back in 2015 when he brought up the idea of creating all-doggo content that the internet had been craving.

“I realized dogs were a very hot topic on the internet. If I wanted my writing to reach more people, I wanted to utilize these adorable dogs,” he previously told Money. “I saw other people doing extraordinary things in 140 characters—making me laugh and making me feel things in that limited character space.”

Fast forward to today and We Rate Dogs is an umbrella brand that features the Thoughts Of Dog page, books, phone games, and online merch stores where you can get your hands on items featuring the best bits from Nelson’s hugely popular doggo land.

But when it comes to the thoughts of dog, the whole concept of it is not as straightforward as it seems. While our four-legged friends don’t have the physical ability to speak human words, they do show that they have cognitive abilities to think. Moreover, they have strong memory skills that make them very trainable animals.

According to Wag Walking, dogs read human signals and behavior better than other species, especially if they come from their family members.

Even if we can never know what exactly is going through their mind, we at least can be sure, dogs are smart, conscious animals capable of feeling a wide variety of emotions. And most probably, the thinking part comes with it too, until, of course, there’s something that steps in the way. We all know dogs are not very good at controlling their impulses.
