Happy belated birthday to Tom Wolfe (1930-2018), American novelist, journalist, and social commentator who was a leading critic of contemporary life and a proponent of New Journalism (the application of fiction-writing techniques to journalism). His best-known works include The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (1968), The Right Stuff (1978), and The Bonfire of the Vanities (1987).
"You never realize how much of your background is sewn into the lining of your clothes."
"Everybody, everybody everywhere, has their own movie going, their own scenario, and everybody is acting his movie out like mad, only most people don’t know that is what they’re trapped by, their little script."
"A lie may fool someone else, but it tells you the truth: you're weak."
"Put your good where it will do the most!"
