Mouse’s Ten Laws of Sunday
1. Thou shalt not, under any circumstances, feel guilty for resting.
2. A warm drink is an act of self-kindness.
"Tea. Cocoa. Spiced cider. Anything that steams pleasantly and fits snugly in your paws. If it makes you sigh in contentment after the first sip, then you are doing Sunday correctly."
3. One must dress for the occasion.
"This means soft things. Cloaks, robes, blankets worn dramatically over the shoulders. Ridiculously thick socks. If your outfit suggests you might be mistaken for a small, cosy wizard, you are on the right path."
4. The last of the party food must not be abandoned.
"A sad leftover is a tragedy! It needs a home, and that home is your plate. The biscuits, the last sliver of cake, the handful of cherries meant for garnish—all are welcome in the grand finale of Sunday snacking."
5. A good story is a requirement, not an option.
"Whether it be a book with foxed pages, a tale told aloud, or the whispered legends of The Glen, no Sunday is complete without a story to tuck into your heart before the night ends."
6. Declare the floor to be lava.
"Just for a little bit. Leap from chair to sofa, balance on one foot, remember what it was to be light-hearted. If you forget how to be nimble, Monday will feel twice as heavy."
7. No chores. No to-do lists. No ‘just getting ahead’ for Monday.
"These things can wait. They will not dissolve overnight. But a properly treasured Sunday? That is a fleeting magic, and once it is gone, it will not come again."
8. Step outside and say hello to the moon.
"The moon appreciates manners, and so do the stars. Even a nod, a wink, or a whispered greeting will do. And if the sky is cloudy? Say hello anyway. The moon is still listening."
9. Find a moment of total, absolute contentment.
"It may be the last bite of something delicious or the feel of a warm blanket around your shoulders. Perhaps it’s the soft hush of rain against the window. Whatever it is, pause and claim it. It belongs to you."
10. Most importantly: Remember, you are loved.
"The Glen would not be the same without you, my wonderful Keeper of the Flame. The stars shine a little brighter because you are here. And no matter what tomorrow brings, you are not alone."
Until next time.
