The dog being a Bull Terrier!
It is 1951 and Lucian Freud produces another painting of Kitty.
She is still wearing her wedding ring, but seems to be resigned to her role of just a subservient sitter.
The bull terrier resting his head on her thigh was a wedding present, one of a pair.
Freud had preferred the other one, which was black but, before he finished the painting, it was run over and he changed its colour to white.
