Apple Pickin Time

The air is cool
Wind is swift
smell makes me drool
of apple crisp.
The trees are heavy
full of ripe fruit
or apple betty
warm and good
Apple pies everywhere
cooling on sills up high
wafting aroma in the air
other smells need not apply
Cider flowing in my cup
fresh from nearby mills
just one way is not enough
heating chases chills
Eating apples out of hand
A true joy sublime
Macintosh and Cortland
It's apple pickin time.
This time of year beckons
to all near and far
our culinary weapons
Apples are the star
So not to be forgotten
with heavy heart sublime
Ignorance is not an option
It's apple pickin time
