Say cheese! Dog photographer cleverly captures pooches trying to catch snacks in their mouths

A dog photographer who captures hilarious pictures of pooches trying to catch cubes of cheese for charity is donating £8,000 worth of pet supplies to local food banks.

Carolyne Cowan, 56, from Falkirk, runs Carrie Southerton Dog Photography and holds Cathathon events - which involve pooches desperately attempting to catch various treats in their mouths - six times a year to raise money for canine charities.  

At her latest last month, the mum-of-two raised £1,355, but was disappointed by the number of people who booked a slot but failed to pay and turn up.

Now, Carolyne and her husband Alasdair, have teamed up with Burns pet food who will supply around a tonne of dog food to be donated to food banks, and hope to raise a further £2,000 to reach their goal.

From Rottweilers and Greyhounds and German Shepherds, Carolyne snapped pictures of 41 dogs lunging for cheese at the charity event - with some happier to take part than others

Taking part in the photography event was not an easy feat for some of the pooches, with this terrier looking very irritated after just missing out on his piece of cheese 

One concerned Springer Spaniel looked terrified he might miss out on a treat while taking part in the hilarious photography event last month 

This White Shepherd was thrilled to be taking part in the Catchathon event, and seemed delighted to be in reach of his piece of cheese 

Carolyne started hosting the events in 2018 and continued for 14 months, raising £15,000 overall, before she was forced to pull the plug on her fundraising when Covid hit.

At her latest event, Alasdair, 63, diced up 10kg of cheese to throw at the pooches while Carolyne snapped away, taking around 50 pictures per pet.

This infuriated pup grew increasingly irritates at not being able to catch their piece of cheese at the charity event, which aims to raise money to buy pet supplies for food banks, last month

Carolyne said: 'It was a crazy day but we have never laughed so much ever. The owners had a ball, it was brilliant.

'There were only six dogs who didn't or couldn't catch the cheese.

'Some were being princesses and just looking at Alasdair after he threw the cheese with great distain, as if to say, how dare you throw something at me.

'But you get the hilarious outtakes with the ones who don't catch so it was great fun and the dogs loved it.

'I photographed 41 dogs over the weekend, we were hoping for 70 but some people mucked us around and didn't turn up which was disappointing.

'We started a fundraising page because someone in America contacted us saying they could be there but would like to donate.

'So we are hoping to get up to our target through that.'
