Praying otter, pushy penguin, silly squirrel and a peacemaker polar bear are among this year's Comedy Wildlife Award finalists

  • Both amateur and professional photographers have captured some incredible images in this year's awards

A 'praying' otter is among the hilarious entries into the 2024 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards as both amateurs and professionals showcase some of Mother Nature's most incredible moments.

Free to enter for all photographers, the competition features some of the natural world's most comedic coincidences while highlighting the need to protect its incredible wildlife.

The contest was founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam in 2015, and has grown to become a globally-renowned competition with images seen by millions every year.

This year's finalists have now been announced - and from a bossy penguin to a slapstick squirrel, all manner of creatures are on display.

Here, MailOnline looks at the contenders vying for the top prize - explained by some of the incredible photographers who snapped the animals' extraordinary expressions.
