What you’ll need
- 1 cup rolled oats (or you can use instant/5 minute oats)
- 1 cup ground raw beef (or other RED meat of your choice)
- 1/2 cup raw GREEN veggies such as kale, Brussels sprouts or broccoli, finely diced
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1 free range egg, beaten
- Olive oil
- 1 large baking sheet
What To Do
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Place the oatmeal, beef and cream cheese, veggies and beaten egg in a bowl and combine them thoroughly.
Let the mixture sit for a few minutes to allow the oats to soak up some of the moisture. The “dough” should be thick enough that you can shape it with your hands. If it’s too sloppy, you can add some more oats.
Oil the baking sheet lightly with olive oil, using a paper towel.
Using your hands (or a couple of teaspoons), form the mixture into marble sized balls, and place on the sheet.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes. Then turn off the oven, but leave the treats inside for up to an hour, to dry out and crisp up.
The treats can be frozen, or stored in the refrigerator for up to four days in an airtight container.
Naughty or Nice
It’s the holidays, so serve as treats or snacks for all dogs, whether naughty or nice!
I admit they don’t look all that red and green when they’re finished, but they do have red and green IN them! Do the dogs care? Mine certainly don’t!
Happy Holiday Snacking!
