10 Weird Old Myths About Women

Here’s another myth that was specifically devised to keep the female population down. In 1873, a Harvard professor named Dr. Edward Clarke stated that ladies should be kept away from higher education, for the sake of humanity’s survival. The good doctor theorized that lots of thinking drew blood to the brain and away from the uterus, so as the mind flowered the reproductive organs withered. If they continued to learn, eventually females would evolve into hideous creatures with massively swollen brains and “puny bodies with weak digestion.” Men didn’t have the same problem, for unknown reasons.
