Gibran Khalil Gibran (1883-1931), usually referred to in English as Kahlil Gibran, was a Lebanese-American writer, poet and visual artist. He also was considered to be a philosopher, although he rejected the title. He was known for his mystical works in Arabic and English, and earned fame following the 1923 publication of The Prophet.
