The German photographer, who lives in Hildesheim with her husband and their three rescue
dogs, has built up a name for herself as one of the finest canine photographers in the world.

But although they’re often
pictured sticking their tongues out, smiling, and pulling any number of other funny
faces, Elke’s dogs haven’t always had reason to look so happy.

Elke explained: ‘All my three dogs are rescue dogs from Spain. Noodles was saved from a
kill shelter in the South of Spain.’

She went on: ‘Scout was found with her siblings next to her dead mother somewhere in a
field near Zaragoza. And Ioli’s mother arrived in very bad condition and pregnant in
Germany.’
