The hard-won wisdom of Robert Frost: 10 Quotes.

With a little commentary, that may prove useful or otherwise, via yours truly. ~ ed.

1. The best way out is always through.

[Reminds me of Churchill's quote about hell.]

2. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

[As in, vacations and yuppie-dom are nice, but service and sacrifice are better. The world needs us.]

3. In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.

[The Buddha would agree. Everything changes. This too shall pass.]

4. And, of course: “Two roads diverged in a wood and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

[Walk your own walk. Trust the principle one.]

5. Always fall in with what you’re asked to accept. Take what is given, and make it over your way. My aim in life has always been to hold my own with whatever’s going. Not against: with.

[Surf.]

6. The world is full of willing people; some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.

[Mitt Romney comes to mind.]

7. A liberal is a man too broadminded to take his own side in a quarrel.
[Exactly. Our aim is for truth, whether it agrees with our initial position, or no. And, we don't mind (or shouldn't mind) making fun of ourselves.]
8. My sorrow, when she’s here with me, thinks these dark days of autumn rain are beautiful as days can be; she loves the bare, the withered tree; she walks the sodden pasture lane.
[Sad days are beautiful. Loneliness is not a bad thing.]
9. Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length.
[Whenever I fall in love, even as I kiss, I feel sad—for I know that what joy I'm experiencing now will, later, be grounded in...reality, to put it politely.]

10. If one by one we counted people out For the least sin, it wouldn’t take us long To get so we had no one left to live with. For to be social is to be forgiving.

[As a Celt, a good one for me to remember. I excel at judging douche-bags as such, and blocking them out of my life.]
