For Skeptics: the #1 Reason to Believe in Astrology.
*Eleditor’s note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy!
Skeptics of Astrology are “doubters” and cynics.
They tend to be people who have no knowledge or direct experience of Astrology. But they are sure it’s nonsense. So, permit me to be very serious and tell you why we should believe in Astrology.
According to a USA Today poll done in December of 2009, 25% of Americans believe in Astrology. In a Harris Polldone in December 2013, 29% of Americans believe in Astrology. More recently, according to a new survey by theNational Science Foundation done in February 2014, nearly 50% of all American say that they consider Astrology to be scientific.
So, we have approximately 100 million people in the United States who believe in Astrology. Can one-third of our population be idiots and fools?
Why Skeptics Will Never Believe in Astrology.
The reason why skeptics can never be convinced of the validity of Astrology is because it will never pass the standards of “The Scientific Method.”
The scientific method is a process for experimentation that is used to analyze data, draw conclusions and accept or reject a particular hypothesis or modify it, if necessary
Example. Hypothesis: Astrology is or isn’t a valid science.
The most important part of this process is that for a science to be validated as being a science, one must be able to reproduce the experiment until there are no discrepancies between observations and theory.
Astrology will never pass the standards of the scientific method because there is still too much we don’t know about how it works. In addition, there has been an insufficient amount of testing and research to validate whether or not it is a science. The limited testing that has been done indicates that it does not pass the rigors of the scientific method. However, let’s not forget that psychology was not thought of as a science either until the early 1900s. So, the “jury is still out” on whether, ultimately, Astrology will be classified as a bona-fide science.
What Is Astrology?
It is a system of knowledge that uses the movement of the planets in the sky and a person’s birth chart to:
1. Explain their personality.
2. Forecast the likely events that will happen in their life. A person’s birth chart is a treasure map that will show where challenges and opportunities will occur in their unique life.
A skilled astrologer uses science, art and interpretation to provide this information to clients.
Here’s Why Skeptics Should Believe
So, why believe in Astrology?
Answer: Because it works!
And many of the most brilliant people know this to be true. If you’re a skeptic you’re saying to yourself, “Oh really? Who are these brilliant people? What evidence do you have that it worked for them?”
Astrology has been used over the centuries by kings, Popes such as Leo X and Paul III, and historical figures from Benjamin Franklin to President Reagan, all who have consulted with astrologers. They trusted that the practice of astrology could provide valuable information to help them manage their affairs and make important decisions. Astrological interpretation offered them insightful analysis of the past, guidance to the future, and wise counsel they could depend on as being accurate. In fact, J.P. Morgan once said, “Millionaires don’t use astrologers, but billionaires do!”
Who are Some of the Historical People who have used Astrology?
Did you know that these brilliant mathematicians, astronomers and scientists were also astrologers: Aristotle, Hippocrates, Ptolemy, Copernicus, Nostradamus, Galileo, Johannes Kepler, (considered to be the father of modern astronomy), Sir Isaac Newton and psychologist, Carl Jung. Let’s take a look a closer look at a few of the more famous people who have used astrology. Then, ask yourself if you think that these were “ignorant” people or just intelligent, practical people, who were a little ahead of their time.
Benjamin Franklin used Astrology for the Declaration of Independence.
Benjamin Franklin was one of the most respected and famous people in colonial America. As history notes, Franklin was a publisher, inventor and statesman.
Franklin was also Colonial America’s greatest astrologer. Historical research indicates that both Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, (who was another all-around philosophical, scientific genius, and fellow committee drafter) conspired to have the Declaration of Independence adopted on July 4, 1776, rather than on the July 2nd date urged by their fellow committee member, John Adams. Franklin knew the importance of choosing favorable astrological timing; and July 2, 1776 was bad! Instead, he picked a fabulous “astrological day” for America’s Founding Fathers to sign the Declaration of Independence.
J.P. Morgan.
John Pierpont Morgan was a wealthy American financier at the turn of the 20th Century who consulted often with a well-known astrologer, Evangeline Adams. She gave him the best timing to make important investments in such companies as U.S. Steel Corporation and the Great Northern & Pacific Railroad, as well as the Boer War. His use of astrology for business made him a billionaire, back in the early part of that century when a million dollars was a vast fortune. In fact, Morgan listened to Adams when she expressly told him: “Don’t get on the Titanic.” He followed her advice, cancelled his reservation and subsequently saw some of his best friends die on that tragic vessel.
Walt Disney.
Walt Disney was the creative genius who created Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Disneyland and a vast entertainment empire. It was well known that Walt Disney used astrological timing for business purposes to assure successful openings for his movies and theme parks. In the process he made millions of dollars using this information.
President Ronald Reagan.
It was well known and well documented that Ronald Reagan relied heavily on favorable astrological timing in running the affairs of this country as President of the United States. Here are quotes from his daughter, Patty Davis and his former Secretary of the Treasurer and former Chief of Staff, Donald T. Regan.
“My parents have done what the stars suggested—altered schedules, changed travel plans, stayed home, cancelled appearances.” ~ Patti Reagan Davis in her book The Way I See It
“Virtually every major move and decision the Reagans made during my time as White House Chief of Staff was cleared in advance with a woman in San Francisco [astrologer Joan Quigley] who drew up horoscopes to make certain that the planets were in a favorable alignment for the enterprise.”
– Donald Regan, Reagan’s former Chief of Staff, in his book, For the Record: From Wall Street to Washington.
This information, that President Reagan and his influential wife sought the advice of an astrologer, wasn’t widely circulated until the publication of Donald Reagan’s book in 1988. Time magazine later identified Ron and Nancy’s personal chart reader as San Francisco astrologer, Joan Quigley. President Reagan kept his use of an astrologer private for years, until a member of his Cabinet publicly revealed it. If Reagan could use astrology to make important decisions to run the country, you can use it to “run your life.”
On Wall Street.
“It’s common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street brokers use astrology.” – Donald Regan, formerly Merrill Lynch, Chairman and CEO, Secretary of the Treasury, and Chief of Staff to President Ronald Reagan.
Jesus & The Three Astrologers (a.k.a. “The 3 Wise Men”).
Astrology goes way back in history to the birth of Jesus (and even before). The account of this event is found in the New Testament book of Matthew: “After Jesus’s birth, astrologers from the east arrived one day in Jerusalem inquiring, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We observed his star at its rising and have come to pay him homage.’” (Matthew 2:1, 2, New American Bible). This translation calls the visitors from the east “astrologers.”
The scriptures here use the plural form of the Greek word ma´gos. Various Bible translations render it as wise men, astrologers, stargazers, or they simply translate it as Magi. This word refers to those who give advice and make predictions based on the position of the stars and the planets.
Who Uses Astrology?
It is clear: Some of the most powerful and influential figures in history have used astrology, including presidents, CEOs, billionaires, as well as business owners, managers, executives, sales representatives, artists, musicians, writers, financial planners, economists, lawyers, accountants, psychologists, doctors, and those in numerous other professions. The list of organizations using astrology includes publically traded corporations, hedge funds, small businesses, government, non-profit organizations, and sports teams.
Stepping “Out of the Box” of Ignorance.
After all, there was a time in history when almost everyone thought the world was flat and anyone who thought differently was considered a kook. So, don’t forget that what we believe to be true is subject to change. It’s through centuries of learning and discovery that we go from ignorance to enlightenment to a new awareness. Our beliefs about what is true do change. In the same way, more and more people have recognized what they previously believed about astrology was based on ignorance.
Historical figures and leaders have been using astrology for centuries, unconcerned as to whether it was in or out of favor by the masses. Instead, these visionaries viewed it as a practical, valuable tool for understanding the events of their life, as well as making successful decisions about their activities, relationships, and investments. They knew astrology’s value centuries ago and they know its value today because they get great benefit from using it.
Most intelligent, rich, famous and powerful people in our society see no advantage in letting the public know they use astrology or consult with an astrologer. They have no need to open themselves up to the scrutiny, criticism or ostracism of narrow-minded people. Their approach is to keep a low profile and just reap the benefits of using astrology. The fact is—clients that I consult with demand strict confidentiality. When it comes to using astrology to manage their affairs and make decisions, they would prefer to keep their use private.
People in many Professions use Astrology, do so for three Reasons:
It works.
It’s accurate.
It helps them manage their life more effectively and make their decisions more successful.
You can enjoy astrology’s value in your life as well. The knowledge of what I’m sharing is your opportunity to step out of the box and defy popular convention. You can make practical use of the same information that rich, powerful, and famous people have used for centuries to understand themselves, manage their life, and make successful decisions at the correct time.
The only way to prove the value of Astrology—to skeptics and “almost believers” is for them to have an Astrology consultation with a professional astrologer. By having this personal experience they can judge for themselves whether what they are hearing about their personality, life and future rings true and is valuable to achieving their personal goals.
