*Pettson and Findus* (1980's)
~Sven Nordqvist~ Swedish~ Children's Book Illustrator/Artist~ b. in 'Helsingborg', Sweden, he showed an early talent for drawing. Summers were spent in the Swedish countryside and his art was hugely influenced by nature. He was turned down by various 'Art Schools, thus, attended the 'Lund Institute of Technology' and graduated in architecture. He was also a graphic artist, but began illustrating Children's Books in the early 1980's. He was hugely successful with a series of books about 'Pettson', a kind and eccentric man living in a ramshackle house in the country with his clever cat, 'Findus.' He was also, well known for his series of books about a cow, in the early 1990's. Nordqvist, has received numerous awards in Scandinavia and Germany and his books have been translated into many different languages. He lives in Sweden with his wife and two sons~
